All anyone is saying is before you go blaming this guy's super-religiousness on his scalding a couple of fruits at least be able to give examples that this guy is a Bible-Banger. Maybe he's just out where the buses don't run, maybe he was sexually abused as a kid, or maybe he just wanted to pour boiling water on someone and came up with an excuse after the cops showed up. That doesn't necessarily mean his actions were based on his buying into some Bronze Age mythology.

I think personally it's a black-culture issue. The boyfriend who poured the water warned the two young men repeatedly to not have sex in what was essentially he and his girlfriend's (the boy's mother) house. The kid ignored the authority of the alpha male and the man did something terrible in anger. The man obviously felt that in a home he was king in, he ought not to have objectionable behavior shoved in his face under his roof.

Now if he had gone to the young man's distant apartment and poured boiling water on the two gay guys, this would be a completely different story. One should always check up on the extenuating circumstances. In this case "We're gay and IN YOUR FACE" came with unfortunate consequences..
