Raletives of officer Zidan Sayef, who was the first to enter the synagogue and shoot down the terrorists, and was also shot himself in process, hold their hands in prayer for his recovery.

Sayef was shot point blank, the bullet damaging his brain, and is now treated in Hadassah Ein-Karem.

Since the bullet hit the brain, there is no option of surgery. While being treated, next to his bed sits his wife, who left their 7 months old baby-girl at home.

His family says- "We wish he'll be the last one injured in Israel, and especially in Jerusalem. He's a hero, and we wish the circle of bloodshed will end by peaceful meanings".

He sounds like a good man, and his wife sounds like just the kind of person that the region needs.

The Druze religion doesn't need anything more. They're peaceful.

Sounds like an over-generalisation. I seem to recall they are responsible for quite a few atrocities themselves.
And trying to claim one sect of people is so different from the rest of humanity as to be all peaceful would fly in the face of reality.

But this man seems decent from the little that is reported. And his wife's statement is better than anything I have heard come out of the Knesset.

It is. I hate hearing how a deceased victim had a young child. Palestinian or Israel.

This thread is one of about two or three or four or five about the attack on a place of worship in Jerusalem. My heart goes out to the families of those who have lost their lives. Even to the families of those who perpetrated this attack. I understand that they were blindsided as well by the actions of these two cousins who also left behind some loved ones.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. I will say nothing else here.

This was a terrible act and the Palestinian leaders are responsible.

The Palestinian terrorists who have killed several Israelis during the last few weeks in Jerusalem are being presented as heroes by both the Palestinian Authority and Fatah.

On official PA TV, Fatah official Muhammad Al-Biqa'i from Lebanon sent blessings of "praise and esteem" to Al-Shaloudi (terrorist who killed 2), Mutaz (terrorist who attempted to murder Rabbi Yehuda Glick) and Ibrahim Al-Akari (terrorist who killed 2). He then honored the murderers for heeding the call that "Jerusalem needs blood to purify itself of Jews":

"They are the ones who heard the call of Yasser Arafat, while the Arab and Islamic nation ignored his call: 'Millions of Martyrs (Shahids) are marching to Jerusalem'. They came out with their weapons, with their true belief that Jerusalem needs blood to purify itself of Jews."

He passed away :(

Damn :( That is so sad. He truly is a hero, but he leaves behind a family :(
Very sad. I read that thousands attended his funeral--Jews, Muslims, Christians and Druze. Israeli Druze have always been very loyal Israeli citizens and have served in the IDF with distinction. From what I've read, he tried to save as many civilians as possible from those axe-wielding killers. Another brave Israeli Druze soldier died protecting Joseph's Tomb from the savage Arabs in the 1990's.
On a side note, the Druze belong to a secret religion that broke away from Islam awhile back, for which they were persecuted. Some say that they are descended from Jethro, Moses' father-in-law.

I was listening to the news of his death on NPR's morning news, he was a traffic policeman who happened to be next door when it happened and they shot him in the head.

Reading about it -http://Police officer wounded in Jerusalem terror attack dies bringing death toll to 5 - is very reminiscent of the attack a couple of years ago here, on a Sikh temple. Many individual acts of bravery on the parts of ordinary people, but only cowardice on the part of the attackers.

There is no "bravery" and NO "heroism" in attacking unarmed people peacefully at worship.

Hamas' reaction and commendation of these acts is beyond redemption and goes to show they can not be any partners in any peace negotiations. If they they believed that the bus driver who hung himself, was killed by settlers - they could demand an independent autopsy or demand an autopsy be done with both Palistinian and Israeli doctors. Instead they chose to use the incident to increase the tensions with calls for violence against innocents - rather than calls for calm and calls for facts. I will give Bibi credit for this - he is calling for his people NOT to take the law in their own hands in revenge. Abbas seems to have done little to calm things. Hamas has done the opposite calling for more violence. This is when it's critical to calm not stoke the fires.

I don't agree, however, with Netanahu's demolishing of the homes of the families - that's extracting punishment on innocents. Get those who are guilty and bring them to trial along with any conspirators but don't destroy families and leave children homeless by punishing them for the acts of their relatives.

Bold words, what do you suggest to be a punishment? I'll save you some possible ideas;
1.Suicide attacks(Jihad) -
A. Meaning that when you execute them as punishment they're just considered another martyred heroes, heard the news right?
B. Here is a personal story, I had an encounter once with, Arab Taxi driver tried to run over a friend of mine, long story short he was shot in the leg, bled and lost his consciences, in the hospital he was moaning why he wasn't killed..get the point?
2.Prison - Means they'll probably be exchanged in a deal, they aim for it, and while staying in prison they get some pretty damn good conditions.(Read about Shalit Deal)
3.The neighborhood all knows when someone is about to commit a terrorist attack, most of the families live in a group called 'Hamoula' - and probably relatives of each other like the last case for example (cousins) - informants is probably the best way to prevent this from happen means when someone is planning a terrorist attack in your house - you share the responsibility as well, and sometimes you even cooperate.
4.TO Funding - the major terrorist organizations usually fund the family of the 'martyred' which means they won't starve for a very long time, taking their home is not only intimidating step but also heavily reduce the benefits.

I can pretty much go on with this but I think you get the point -

He died while protecting his partner, not just the praying civilians at the synagogue.

A great tribute was made to the family by Rami Levi, who brought a truck full of goods to the grieving family, and Israeli Jews don't stop arriving to the village and try to comfort the family. The widow, Rimal, takes great comfurt in the fact.

The people who did this awful thing, ironically enough, caused the Druze and Jewish Israeli community are now more united than ever, in this sadly common grief.

In case the family raises someone to become killers, then it's more than justified.

Take the next example. A reckless 17 year old boy drives beyond the speed limit and is arrested after almost running over someone. The clean law says the car could be taken away in such case. Bandaid to a broken leg, anyone? he'll just take another car for a wild ride. But lets say the cop calls the father and says, "your son's did this and that under your watch, come and pay fee."

Is this wrong? I don't think so. You raise your kid to be a bully and potential killer? pay the price for it.

I see what you are saying but - Life in Prison, or whatever the maximum sentance for murder in Israel is.

It's never right to attack the innocent families. If it were Daniyel, why weren't the homes of the killers of that burnt-alive Arab boy demolished? Why two standards of justice?

The murderers of Mohammed were 3 underage influenced by an adult (36-?)
That was a racist(I agree with terrorist-)murder although the motive wasnt against Israel- fan club named 'La familia' - football.
