1The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 2Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. 3Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand
Revelation 22:2 says, "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done".

"Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place."
(Matthew 24:34, Mark 13:30, Luke 21:32)
In God's terms, "soon" could mean a much larger time frame than what it means to the average person. In Revelation 12 we read:
Revelation 12:12
12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a
short time.
The devil came down upon the earth before Adam and Eve ever partook of the forbidden fruit. I imagine that he is still here 6000 years later. Yet his time has not ended on this earth for nearly 6000 years an yet God considered it a
short time.
When Jesus was on the earth he told his disciples the following:
Matthew 16:28
28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which
shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
Mark 9:1
1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which
shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
Luke 9:27
27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which
shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.
Here Jesus clearly tells us that there would some who were of that generation that would not taste of death until they would see the kingdom of God come with power. What does Jesus say about his coming in power with his kingdom?
Matthew 24:29-30
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
We read here that Jesus will come in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory and all the tribes of the earth shall see this great event. Has that happened? NO! Not yet!
The Book of Revelation tells us that when Jesus comes he will rule on the earth for 1000 years. Has that happened? NO! Not yet!
Revelation 20:2-8
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and
bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and
they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and
shall reign with him a thousand years.
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
Peter once wondered what would become of the Apostle John:
John 21:20-25
20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
22 Jesus saith unto him,
If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but,
If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?
24 This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.
25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
Here we read that John the Apostle and Revelator would tarry in this life until Jesus would come again upon the earth. In John, his prophesy given in Matthew 16, Mark 9, and Luke 9 would come true. John would continue until Jesus would come again. Thus that generation in which Jesus spoke that that generation would not all pass away is true even today before he has made his second coming an will come true because John will live until Christ Jesus comes again in the clouds of heaven in great glory.
