China will probably prevail in the long run because frankly, that's kind of their destiny. China was the world's biggest economy up until 1750, when they were supplanted by the British Empire and then by the US.

I do think the problem with the US is Democracy. Someone like Trump can get elected because so much of the electorate is stupid.
