Rep. Rashida Tlaib said she and Rep. Ilhan Omar had to hold hands at points during President Trump's State of the Union address to comfort each other.
"It think was a huge struggle for me because I don't think people realize its worse in — when you're actually there," the Michigan Democrat said at an event with Rep. Ilhan Omar about listening to the address.
"No, it really is, it actually — there was moments of triggering, and I kept holding your hand," Tlaib said, looking at Omar. "And we intentionally sat next to each other to support each other."
Tlaib, 43, said earlier this week that she walked out of the speech because it was full of "bigotry." The freshman congresswoman pointed to Trump mentioning Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh as the moment she could not take it anymore."
