On Sunday, 15 people gathered in Friedrich Ebert Park in Lahr (Baden-Württemberg), many carrying Israeli flags. On this day 87 years ago ( November 9, 1938), the Nazis organized a nationwide campaign of violence against Jews, torching synagogues, destroying shops and deporting thousands of people.
A police spokesperson said: ‘The people had gathered at around 4.30 p.m. to commemorate and pray together.’ Videos show the participants – including many elderly people and a child – singing a song. Suddenly, a man appears with a Palestinian flag, grinning provocatively and shouting ‘Free Palestine’. Other men follow. They disrupt the commemoration, shouting hate slogans against Israel.
