A big deal in the mid 1960s, associated with the 'Stones' and particularly Mick Jagger. Her big hit, 'As Tears Go By', was written for her by Jagger, Richards and Oldham. The Stones would record their own version a year or so later, which also became a hit

She fell into serious drug abuse, which wrecked her voice, but she had several rebound albums in her later career, between battling drugs and a number of illnesss, with several notable albums.

'Broken English' returned her to stardom, and is perhaps her finest album.

.

I couldn't believe it when I heard something she released, late in the 70's or early 80's I thiink, that was foul and graphic and very bitter, called "Why'd Ya Do It".

Just shock value. The Cardi B. of that era.

Trashed any idea I ever had of her "talent".

Over 45 years ago and still very relevant.

R.I.P. Our youth is slowly fading away
Yes, it reminds us that it is final and gone.

We get to live long enough to remember and hold it close to our memory and be thankful we had it.

Thank you, Ringo.

I remember where I was when I found out Elvis had died, I remember the moment when I found out Lennon had been shot.... Every death of a youth idol tells us - memento mori.... I just hope Paul and Ringo live longer than me....
