Nah dude, it is YOU that doesn't know what an "assault weapon" is. Which is weird as **** seeing as how you are the know all on weapons and there intended use.

You want to make the case that BECAUSE it can't be used (as bought) as a fully automatic weapon, why then it can't be an "assault weapon". What a crock of bullshit.

But when ever these is a mass assault in the country (aka mass killing) what was the weapon of choice? When the Bundy protectors were carrying their weapons, intending to assault someone if need be, what was the rifle of choice. Was it the AR? Or an AK.

All a so called assault weapon is is a standard semiautomatic rifle with some cosmetic doo dads on it.

This will be a bit off topic but the majority of shootings even mass ones are not carried out by people using assault rifles Nidal Hassan, the Gabby Giffords shooter, and the VT shooter to name a few all used pistols obviously there are exceptions but assault rifles are not the norm for shootings.

Far more poeple are killed w/ blunt and or bladed weapons; about twice as many are killed by hands/feet.

First of all, since when did any of our basic rights involve "need"? Also, how much of what we have in our daily lives is based solely on "need"? And if you add up the lives lost to the various pollutants from manufacturing processes (cancer victims ect) it costs more lives than the "assault weapons".

Second of all, home defense is not about protecting a flat-screen tv. And your attempt to make it so is insulting to those who have suffered a breakin or home invasion. Home defense is about protecting the sanctity of the home. If you have ever had a breakin, you know that your home no longer feels safe. If you cannot feel safe at home, where is it that you will feel safe?

I can't speak for anyone else, but since I reload my own ammo, I am not as sensitive to the "we will stop all the ammunition" threats. Plus, I have a couple of friends who load ammo as a business. They are doing great.

Also, the shooting involving ARs would have been much worse with other weapons. The Sandy Hook shooting probably would have been far worse if he had been using a 12 gauge.

And the other most deadly use of the AR was the Beltline Sniper. Had he used a basic hunting rifle he probably would have killed more people.
