Worst I've experienced with wind chill is -50 c / -58 f here in Saskatchewan. Spent 6 hours outside in it.

I love being outdoors in extreme weather, be it hot or cold (not things like tornadoes or lightning or other weather events that can kill me no matter how well prepared) but the extreme cold is always fun to dress for and then go for a long walk, your body provides the heat and your clothes provide the warmth.

it's also good to remember how people survived living outside only wearing animal skins.

Exactly! How you dress is what keeps you warm. This year I worked with a guy from India who had never worked outside in winter and he was asking me how to dress for it. I told him to overdress and to take off clothes if he was too warm then he would learn what he needed to wear.
