Public hearings regarding the insurrection riots have begun too soon.

If the Department of Justice fails fully investigating extents of White House connections to the insurrection riots and doesn't criminally charge or announce that they've found no cause to charge the ex-president and/or other prior White House officials and associates, they're failing to properly serve our nation.

The Congressional House should not have begun public hearings until the U. S. Department of Justice's FBI have properly done their duty. Respectfully, Supposn
Refer to: Justice Dept. now expects to charge more than 500 in Capitol riot probe (nbcnews.com)

“The Justice Department has notified federal judges in Washington that it expects to charge more than 500 people with taking part in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. … The majority of those charged are accused of lower-level offenses, such as entering a federal building without permission and trying to disrupt the official counting of the Electoral College vote for president. A few dozen face more serious charges of assaulting police officers or damaging government property. ...”.

All the states certified their electors by December 19 the latest and signed by the Secretary of State in all 50 states once that happens, they are now ready to be read by the V.P. on January 6.

Alternate electors are automatically voided because they were not certified.

Thus, there was no possible coup from that direction anyway since Pence got only the legally certified electors' ballots to call on.

The utter nonsense about memo's is vitiated by this, December 19 ALL 50 states had already certified their electors and signed by their Secretary of State thus any additional elector ballots have no legal force thus can be ignored.

Pence the V.P. was given a package of all the legally CERTIFIED electors ballots and did his roll call on them he never saw any or kind of elector ballots since they were never considered and not signed by their respective Secretary of State.

There was no possible "coup" in this since it never got going from the start as they had nothing to run with amazing anyone fell for this possibility as it never had a chance to succeed from the start and especially after December 19, 2019.

They've had a year and a half.

Fuck 'em...

"A fair and speedy trial...". Any possible defendants have already been denied that long since.

Ha ha ha the excuses are now flowing for TWO YEARS is enough time to indict and prosecute Trump and other officials.

The DOJ isn't going to do it because the evidence isn't there.

Sunsettommy, you may or may not be correct. I would suppose that most of those that pleaded guilty January 6th rioters had been threatened with the charge of insurrection; it's a more difficult charge to prove in court. Paranoia, ignorance, stupidity are not crimes.

But the Congressional House should have waited for the Department of Justice to perform their duties before holding the hearings in public. Respectfully, Supposn

The DOJ had plenty of time to now pursue prosecution which is why your excuse for the inaction is question begging.

Sunsettommy, my excuse? I offered any excuses??

The clock doesn't start ticking until the indictment is filed. Respectfully, Supposn
Refer to :
Understanding the Federal Court Process From Complaint & Indictment to Motions & Trial (new-york-lawyers.org)
... Once an indictment is filed with the court, the criminal case can proceed. By Federal law, once an indictment is filed and the defendant is aware of it, the case must proceed to trial within 70 days. ...

I would have preferred the congressional committee would continue gathering testimony and affidavits but had not held any public hearings until the Department of Justice had cleared or filed charges against Donald Trump and his associates within and outside of the White House.

The house committee could continuously share all testimony, affidavits with the FBI. That sharing would somewhat hinder, (but not certainly prevent) any following administration or congressional sessions" efforts to “hide evidence under the rug” prior to elections.

Unlike the remainder of the world, U.S. voters have a short attention spans. I prefer much later public hearings, but before Congress recesses for the November 2024 elections

How could they wait? If they waited until after the midterms and no longer have control of Congress, then any hearings would be balanced with actual truthful witnesses countering the made up garbage of the left and the Dimmers would risk punishment and imprisonment for creating yet another fake crisis.

JBrownson0831, I do agree with Republicans that complain Biden has been president since January 2021 and the failure of our Justice Dept. to clear or indict ex-president Donald Trump, or any of his associates, or any participants of the January 6th riots for the crime of sedition may indicate (A) no criminal act of sedition was committed, or (B) they haven't sufficient evidence to indict and convict anyone of sedition.

I also speculate if possibly President Biden and/or members of his administration for fear of the political consequences are not diligently seeking. or due to their incompetence are not capable of finding and assembling cases of individual's seditious crimes. IMO the January 6th mob was a seditious mob. Respectfully, Supposn
