Psychological testing of some sort to purchase a firearm. Fair?

Should have a psychological test to be able to vote. If you're crazy enough to believe in redistribution or global warming you should not get a vote

Almost all of the rampage/mass shooting have one thing in common, mental instability.

We don't live in the 1700's anymore where the population of any given town is <2000. If it requires a constitutional amendment so be it.

We really, really need to give government the power to decide which of us can carry guns and which can't.

You fanatics just never give up, do you?

:cuckoo:

Whatever it takes. As an excon I can't buy a firearm but I guarantee you if I could I would be 0 risk as compared to the crazies that are allowed to buy. If they can stop me they should be able to stop the nuts

Some states allow automatic restoration of civil rights. Your point is well taken.

It's not a state issue, it's a federal law. If I EVER get cought in posession of a firearm it's an AUTOMATIC 5 years.

That is why I wrote your point is well taken; the restriction is ridiculous(.)

Of course, today I'm a fanatic. Tomorrow when I mock Moochelles fat ass I'll be the newest cool kid.

Some of you are so sad

They won't touch it. They is everyone.
On the right, they won't touch it for fear of alienating the 100% without restriction gun owner vote.
On the left, they won't touch it because they'd have to admit and address the fact that mentally unstable people have to be scrutinized BEFORE they commit a crime. And that the left cannot have. So they'd rather a ticking time bomb who they KNOW is mentally ill, go untested.
The problem on both sides of the aisle is once again this ....Politics.
Instead of Statesmen, who would put country first, we have politicians, who put their reelection campaigns first.
The ultimate solution is term limits.
If the POTUS can be term limited, so can the Senate and House.
The system is so broken, if one were to take a nationwide poll from at least 10,000 people from every state asking them one simple question, "do you think your federal government is doing it right?" Yes or No.....The majority answer would be "negative".

(patiently)

Some of us actually think that giving government the power to decide for us, which of us can own guns and which of us can't, is a BAD idea. Regardless of which bogeyman the gun-grabbers are trying to scare us with today.

So I went from a fanatic to a big government boogeyman. ...

Why the **** can't I just be an American with an different opinion?

Moreover, ‘psychological testing’ would likely not have the desired effect, as one might ‘pass’ his ‘psychological testing’ and be allowed to purchase a firearm, and in later years develop mental health issues that would result in his committing an act of gun violence.

Citizens’ civil liberties cannot be limited, restricted, or preempted simply because the state ‘believes’ someone ‘might’ violate the law.

So...Your side would remove the right to keep and bear arms but are quick to defend the rights of those who are shown to be if in the possession of firearms, potentially dangerous people.
The remarkable thing about you libs is how you decide which rights you deem correct and those you wish to be eliminated.
You can't have it both ways.

Go for it. It will pass about as quickly as the ERA did. Oh wait....

Well, it seems like we have now reached the level of about two freaked out shootings a week now in this nation. And, once again, the gun nuts answer is to put more guns on the street. People, if this gets much worse, and we have more of the people that were at the Bundy ranch killing for no good reason, there will be a tide that will even put restrictions on the type of hunting guns that I own. And you fruitloops with the arsenals of war weapons will need a special license to take one of those off your property.

How about we just close down all of the gun factories? Weld the doors shut. Then they won't be making so many millions of guns that wind up in crazy people's hands.

That remark does not dignify a response other than total disdain.

How bout you address the topic like an adult and not the limp dick jackass you are?
Okay, let's address the problem like adults. Poverty causes the majority of crime in the world, and the majority of the world's wealth is controlled by a very corrupt wealthy minority. With more wealth in the hands of the general worldwide population, it is more than likely that there will be less crime.

The global economy is based on energy- fuel and electricity for the production and transportation of goods. Cannabis hemp can provide the majority of the world's energy without the industry being controlled by a very corrupt wealthy minority. Legalizing marijuana will transfer the majority of the world's wealth through the free market to the working poor, raising the standard of living for all People on Earth, and lowering crime.

It won't be a utopia but it will be better than bombing Muslims over lies.

Would you please stop with the hemp shit.
It's a non sequitur here.
Start a thread on hemp if you like.
NO deflection permitted.

Yet those who have "paid their debt" to society remain unable to purchase or possess firearms. When does the sentence end?

Psychological testing of some sort to purchase a firearm. Fair?

No.

Those interested in taking away your arms would be controlling the parameters of the test.

Talk about putting the fox in charge of the hen house.

People would claim it violates their so called 'rights'.

Sure ... we could have the IRS handle it.

What are you hunting with...whatever it is, whether firearm, arrow or sling and stone, it was once a weapon of war...so step off your soap box before you fall off.
