While these stories are indeed very nice, and a tribute to the good officers anywhere, the fact that a cop administered a dose of NARCAN, something that paramedics do every single day, is not very compelling.

I agree with you there. NARCAN is a wonder drug with no deleterious effects if you are not OD'd. The fact that the legal community has dragged its feet for so long to allow this is a true shame. When I was getting my EMT Cert. I had to ride the bus and witnessed many times it's effectiveness. That was 30 years ago!
