An instructor at Stanford University has been removed from teaching duties as the school investigates reports that during a discussion on the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the instructor downplayed the Holocaust and singled out students “based on their backgrounds and identities.”

“Without prejudging the matter, this report is a cause for serious concern. Academic freedom does not permit the identity-based targeting of students,” Stanford said in a statement Wednesday.

At least they were removed. I wonder how many are not.

The professor went around the room asking the background of students so he or she could label them a colonizer or victim.

They never 'fire' them, they always move them onto some 'special project' where they still earn their salary and have to do even less than what they did before. Then after things die down, they'll move them back to the department and start teaching again. Universities are microcosms of the government. No one really works all that hard, they're in for life, great benefits and retirement, and salaries way above the private sector. Some are feeling the pain because enrollment is decreasing and state governments are not giving as much funding, so lay offs and budget cuts have been happening at some levels at state universities. But do you think the admin cuts themselves or their own salaries, hell no, they cut people that actually do work and are needed. I personally know quite a bit about it via a local state university, there is a 30+ year librarian that makes over 130k a year, plus more with summer contract, and all she does is coordinate 'events' for the library, like poetry reading day, etc... 130k+ a year for that! She's only one example. Do you think she got laid off, of course not, she's protected by a faculty union, so they got rid of needed staff and management that would have made more sense to keep. It's a disgusting pool of cronyism and corruption.
