I'm not labeling all gay people mentally ill. I have gay people in my family. They are completely normal, functioning human beings. I'm referring to the transgendered and the kinds of gays you see acting out in these videos.
I asked this question a few days ago and never really received an answer. Why do we need to have a month set aside to aggrandize people who sleep with the same sex? What type of achievement or accomplishment is this? When these pride parades began back in the 80s they were just normal people marching down the streets demanding an end to being brutalized and murdered for who they are. How did they morph from that to these disgusting displays of public vulgarity we see at them now? What does walking down the street completely naked or in assless chaps in front of people's children have to do with people being homosexual? Do you feel these types of displays are appropriate right out in the middle of any downtown?
Is it all transgender people? No, again, it's not.
And some people have mental illnesses, it doesn't help them when you start labeling people who are extroverted as being "mentally ill".
The US already deals with mentally ill people badly, especially in certain states. Those are the sort of states where people make simple generalizations like "these gay people are mentally ill"
But again, if gay people were just "normal members of society" like in Thailand, for example, then there'd be no need for pride, and no need for such people to be doing this kind of thing in public.
Straight people do this kind of thing, my Aunt was a swinger (of sorts, her husband didn't take part as far as we know) but I guess they did it away from people.
Why does there need to be a month set aside for people like this? Because they've been treated like absolute shit, and there's a desire to make people see being gay as normal, you can't do that by hiding away. You need to be out there and say "hey, look, we're here".
Some take it too far. Others don't. The right will then attack ALL GAY PEOPLE for being the few who take it too far.
Start treating gay people like normal, and there won't be a need for pride.
