Politically, that is often the case. That is why both democrat and republican administrations have press secretaries that constantly "spin the truth" (in other words lie). It is usually only when a politician is cornered on something the he said or did wrong and there is enough public outcry that there will be an apology.

Also, a person looks weak when he apologizes when he did nothing wrong. For example, one should not apologize for saying "All lives Matter" even though there are Social Justice Warriors that will want an apology.

I believe Joe Rogan falls under this category because he uses his platform so that differing opinions can be heard, not to squash opinions.
