This agreement, and the subsequent investments in technology, will be a bulwark against the risk of China's technology ascendance.

I'm sure we can all guess which side the Dems are on.

The agreement describes several "areas of cooperation":

  • Accelerating AI innovation, including setting up joint research programs
  • Unleashing civil nuclear energy. This one's almost gleamingly optimistic, touting a golden nuclear age. There is a brief note about fusion energy: "The Participants intend to pursue collaborative initiatives in the areas of advanced nuclear reactors, advanced nuclear fuels, and fusion energy..."
  • Securing quantum advantage: This appears to be an agreement to work together on quantum computing.

I don't know about You but given the current trajectory of the U.K. Government, I don't feel comfortable "cooperating" with them on anything more complicated than the time of day and even then, I'd be regularly checking my watch to verify what they're telling Me is true.

You were not supposed to notice that.

Won't this speed up our demise? :omg:

Maybe now folks in the UK will be able to afford to buy a fine GE washer and dryer instead of having to do laundry in the parking lots of petrol stations, car washes, and such at those weird outdoor machines....

high tech requires nuclear power, not solar or wind

electricity demand, demand no more expensive weak solar or wind.

Modern countries cant operat on electricity only available at high noon, give or take a hour or two.
