Post Stories of Suffering Caused by the Shutdown

No, and that is a good point.

particularly, they will not change their mind over the shutdown, for a few reasons.

As any decent human being, I was concerned when I saw that they will not be able to afford milk and eggs for their children. Then I wondered, since they're both working, what purchases are they prioritizing over feeding their kids?
.

Great point! I know a couple -- he's deeply in debt after spending a boatload of money to woo her. They're struggling to be able to afford to get married, but she still gets fancy $10 coffee drinks and has her nails done in a salon, and they went ahead and got pregnant! They had an expensive "gender reveal" party, and she won't get married until they can afford to do it in style.

I get the feeling that this is pretty normal for young people today.

She's on WIC, and I truly don't believe they deserve the help.

President Trump on Sunday told Navy sailors not to “worry about” their paychecks that are being held back by the current government shutdown.

Govt workers know they are vulnerable to a temporary delay of a paycheck or two each fall. The need to put aside an ER fund to cover a month or so of expenses.

Private workers know they are vulnerable to a layoff, at any time, and permanent cessation of their paycheck and set aside an ER fund for a minimum of six months.

People who do not have $5,000 in an ER fund should NOT buy new clothes, shop at Whole Foods, go to the beach for a long weekend, etc., until they do.

Yes, he said "don't worry about it," because "we will get our service members every last penny."

You should read beyond the clickbait headlines.

Unless you have information that after this Schutdown ends, no backpay will be given?

Wow, the husband and wife both got pregnant, both claim they will deliver theirs first, what odds are they giving on the bet?

Didn't President Trump reinstate all the military who were booted because they refused the jab, and give them back pay?

.

Yep, but it's a single cup classic so it was easier than laying off government workers. ;)
I've owned several of them was never able to keep them to keep them descaled. If only Trump didn't shut down the department of descalation! That miserable bastard!

The larger units are a PITA to descale.

This is the one I use....Easy peasy.

Just dump some white vinegar in the top let it sit for a while then dump it into the boiling chamber and let it sit.

Run a few cycles through it and you are GTG for several months. I use filtered water from a Britta pitcher so that really helps.

I have an extra unit on hand in case the one in use shits the bed.

Whew! I'm so glad that my coffeemaker is a teakettle and a drip cone, and no government shutdown can eff up something that simple.

Can they?

.

Ha! ever look inside that kettle? I bet it's all scaled-up.
.

Yeah, but probably less than it would be if I used tap water. I have reverse osmosis, which probably cuts down on the schmutz.

oh……So those Sailors can just tell their landlords, electric company, supermarket that Trump promises to pay them eventually.

Should our armed forces go on food stamps so they can feed their family?

Does your employer tell you to just wait till he gets around to paying you?

I'll start:

Barbie Anderson is trying to conserve the milk her three young children drink in case she doesn’t get her WIC benefits on October 15 as scheduled.

Though Anderson and her husband both work, they have depended on the federal food assistance program to stretch out their grocery budget since their older son was born nine years ago. The money is especially important because the prices are very high at the closest supermarket to their rural northern Minnesota home, with a gallon of milk costing more than $5.

The WIC benefits her 3-year-old son receives allow her to purchase oranges and orange juice – which she considers vital to strengthening the children’s immune systems so they don’t have to go to the doctor – and to pick up essential items. It’s the only public assistance the family receives.

“We don’t have the money to buy milk, eggs and everything that the kids need right now,” said Anderson, who works in billing part-time, while her husband works in a lumberyard. “We’ve always struggled, but now we struggle even more to try to make it.”

How long will the cruelty of those who engineered this shutdown last?

Even the stalwart DNC propagandists at NBC aren't pretending anymore.

This is an unmitigated disaster for the Democrats.

Or move into barracks or whatever the Navy calls it.

No, the Dems should vote for the clean CR TODAY and stop holding service members hostage to pay for illegals "with legal status."
