It used to be considered that interracial marriages were sinful. Most churches opposed them and wouldn't perform the ceremony.

Forget sinful. God gave everyone free will so that they could choose for themselves. From a secular societal perspective, it’s not in a society’s best interest to promote homosexuality. Don’t ask, don’t tell. But let’s not hold it up as something good and just because it’s not.

In HighSchool, I read stories by The French Man Balzac Entitled Droll Stories/ Tales that were about Nuns, Nunneries, Priests and how the priests would visit the Nuns at night as Christ.
And in the deeper parts of the castles of Nuns, there were many corpses of babies no one was ever supposed to know about. Monseur Balzac gave me a rather negative view of Catholic institutions which was much amplified by historical accounts of Torquemada which means torture and burn, they guy who ran the Spanish Inquisition.
His targets were often rich people who he could extort or kill for heresy and profit thereby.
I also read about many of the naturepaths/herbologists tortured and burned to death to be replaced by fake "doctors" who did terrible things to people with ailments to "cure" them.
On top of that there were protestant churches who burned people too. What an awful world it was where so called humans were worse than wolves.

But in the Netherlands, they had scales that proved you were NOT a witch as witches were thought to have very little weight.

This one bozo named Boettner (spelling?) wrote a book condemning the C Church but LIED. He said that millions were killed in the Inquisition. There were only 1 or 2 thousand. People used to beg to be tried by the Inquisition Court because it was far more lenient than the secular one. They knew that the clergy feared Hell so they would not rule unjustly. If one went to this Court for heresy, he was given chance after chance to renounce the heresy and accept true Church teaching. If he refused, he was turned over to the secular folks, the king... and the king or queen decided if he should die or not... and he always had the chance to recant his heresy. In those days heresy was considered treason, as it divided society

We've been deceived. I didn't know about this either until a few years ago. Go to Most Holy Family Monastery. They have a 600 page book for sale there for not much $$.. called The Truth about What Happened to the Catholic Church After Vatican II

It's a very informative, fact filled book. The best book I've ever read.. written by old fashioned Catholics.

I haven't had a lot of time to do much research about this, but I have a couple of friends I want to talk to about it -- people who have all faith in Pope Leo. They are very busy this week because we have a couple of funerals in church and my friends are busier than a one legged man in an ass-kicking contest -- providing music and food and flowers and such. As soon as it slows down a bit, we'll talk.

Sorry Mate, I'm ardently religious, but I'm just not into telling other people what they should think and follow. Nor am I so presumptuous as to claim that one god, the Abrahamic God, is the ONLY God making all other religions before and since invalid.

Sure, Christianity encompasses most of the West while Islam or others mostly encompass the East. I cannot prove that any one is more right while others are wrong.

The universe came into being 13.8 billion years ago, this suggests that long before that, God was already around and rocking and rolling. Christianity appeared a mere 2000 years ago. That means that Christianity has been around for 0.0000001449% of the age of THIS universe on one part of one planet in an ocean of a billion billion planets.

But I'll tell you this: The Vatican sure has not impressed me since the days of Pope John Paul II.
