Surging cases have dashed all hope that polio might be eradicated in 2019

By Leslie RobertsJul. 10, 2019 , 5:20 PM

The global initiative to eradicate polio is badly stuck, battling the virus on two fronts. New figures show the wild polio virus remains entrenched in Afghanistan and in Pakistan, its other holdout, where cases are surging. In Africa, meanwhile, the vaccine itself is spawning virulent strains. The leaders of the world's biggest public health program are now admitting that success is not just around the corner...

"The biggest problem for me for a long time was recognizing that we truly have a problem..."The rose-tinted glasses are off," adds longtime program spokesperson Oliver Rosenbauer of WHO. "Now, really tough questions are openly being asked—questions that even 12 months ago no one asked."... The program, which has spent $16 billion over 30 years, had planned to eradicate polio from Pakistan and Afghanistan this year (only the latest of many deadlines). Instead, almost four times as many cases have occurred ...

O gawd, yes but as of 26th Aug 2020 wild Polio has been eradicated in Nigeria, Egypt and Niger leaving continental Africa free of the disease.
They think vaccines are a conspiracy against them. And Africa is also full of "darkies" living in mud huts so they dont care what happens to them. Fundie logic at work.
That is about an ignorant statement on your part. The best cure for all diseases is cleanliness. Proper sewage disposal and clean water is what everyone needs. For all the money spent every little village could have those things but its not about securing their overall well being now is it?

We have those things in the West and the US and the UK have the biggest body count in this pandemic.

Yeah hm huh. 'No reason to panic or be concerned about vaccine experimentation whatsoever as it was only near a half million children who were paralized by it all.' I have to say I'd be concerned if I were a parent and they wanted to vaccinate my child in any of those countries were they pushed their crap.

[NEW DELHI] While India’s oral polio vaccine (OPV) drives have eliminated polio from the country, they have also resulted in over 490,000 cases of paralysis during 2000—2017, says a new study based on national surveillance statistics.

We also have a huge amount of bullshit reports too along with false positive testing. Feed the bs to someone else as I'm not buying.

You are an anti vax weirdo so your opinion needs to be treated with some scepticism.

Its not my opinion but the actual reports that count when it comes to medical discernment.

Their vaccines caused problems in Afghanistan and Pakistan too and that is why they were killing some of the relief workers there.
