Yeah. It’s a cesspool. That’s why more than 500 people a week move to Portland.
Portland-area population growth slows to lowest level since 2013, Census Bureau says
Of course that population growth has slowed. But for some reason the people aren’t fleeing the cesspool. I wonder why? Could it be lying cops?
Seattle is suppose to have the 3rd largest homeless problem in country yet 1,000 new people a week move to the city, more than Portland but Seattle is a larger city.
The homeless stay in a very small part of most cities, usually in or near the downtown section in places close to facilities they need such as food banks, food kitchens, medical facilities, homeless camps, and public transportation, and other public accommodations.
Many people think homeless people travel around the country to find the very best places. That is more fantasy than fact. Most homeless people gravitate to large cities within their state or nearby state, typical where they have friends or relatives. Being homeless is a hard life and being in a new city presents all types of problems and dangers that most people don't face in moving.
I worked as a volunteer in a food bank for several years and met a lot of homeless people. One thing I can tell you about the homeless life. Most people that can work would hate it. Little problems, like a hole in your shoe, or your blanket get's stolen is huge problem but for most people loneliness is biggest problem.
and lack of affordable housing, homeless people do not chose to be homeless. HUD has now downsized, the poorer are getting poorer and the rich richer.
