Well its not how I remembered it, but I looked it up.
There was a definite budget cut on the thumbnail of 25%. Fortunately the most recent budget has replaced it with healthy growth on top of it.

The trials of a bunch of them from the marches are still ongoing IIRC.

Defunding isn't enough. The police need to be abolished. Reduce taxes to reflect the savings. The wealthy and stores will have private security untroubled by cities who tell them what to do. Citizens will be armed and not required to give a warning. It might take a few hundred dead bodies but they will learn. Even the teen agers.
