'Sen. Elizabeth Warren unveiled a plan Friday to break up massive technology companies such as Amazon and Facebook, the clearest proposal yet in the 2020 presidential race to limit the growth of Silicon Valley.
In a blog post, the Democratic presidential hopeful from Massachusetts wrote that she wants to make “big, structural changes to the tech sector to promote more competition.” Those overhauls would include “breaking up” Amazon, Facebook and Google — companies that have come under scrutiny for user data security and consolidation of services such as e-commerce and digital advertising.
“Today’s big tech companies have too much power — too much power over our economy, our society, and our democracy,” Warren wrote. “They’ve bulldozed competition, used our private information for profit, and tilted the playing field against everyone else. And in the process, they have hurt small businesses and stifled innovation.”'

Yet another progressive who does not have a CLUE how business works.
You ignorant cow...what about Walmart? That is a MEGA company - why not them?
Maybe because she realizes that Walmart is GREAT for lower income Americans. That they offer BY FAR the lowest prices you can get on most goods and that many poor/lower middle class Americans depend on their low prices to help make ends meet.
That is the power of big corporations - buy in bulk, pass on savings to consumers.
It's called free enterprise and there is NOTHING wrong with it.
And before you knuckleheads who say that Walmart forced Ma and Pa stores out of business? You are damn right. Because they charged more for products then Walmart because that is the best they could offer. I would rather have a Walmart and fewer Ma and Pa stores in my town/city and save a pile of dough rather than the reverse.
So, she wants to split up Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google?
Let's look at each:
Amazon: they sell a ton of products and have fantastic selection - usually at lower prices. If you shop online (and unless you are an ignoramus/dinosaur - you do), you will be hard pressed to not find what you want at the lowest price on either Walmart or Amazon. And what the heck is wrong with that?
So long as they provide great product selection at the cheapest price - who gives a shit?
Apple: they sell incredibly overpriced goods to the middle class and up (yes, I own their products - but I am getting sick of them). There is TONS of competition in the areas they reside...so there is ZERO chance that they will corner the market any time soon. If anything, their brand has taken a beating lately.
Facebook: only idiots/weak people are on Facebook (unless it is for business). Some moronic site that allows people to feel like they are WAY more popular then they really are. It is a terribly invasive business model...and it too has fallen on hard times lately - more so than Apple.
But the point is that no one HAS to be on it. It's just social media. I despise it and NEVER use it except for the games they have sometimes or occasionally for business. But I would never dream of trying to break it up. Please believe me, they will break up one day the way they are going all by themselves. Their reputation has plummeted over the last few years.
Here is a (IMO) brilliant, 1 minute mocking of Facebook:
Google: Hello? JUST DON'T USE IT. I use DuckDuckGo - have for a while (and there are other options). It works great and it does not monitor your searches...so it does not send you shit loads of ads.
Again, Google is some invasive search engine (among other things) that is terrible and only idiots use it.
It will go the way of the dodo eventually if they don't change as more and more people get sick of it.
ALL of these corporations either do genuine good for America (like Walmart and Amazon) or offer silly/overpriced products/services that people will catch on to (the rest).
And consumers will smarten up eventually and ditch the ones that suck OR force them to change.
But these companies are NOT damaging our lives UNLESS YOU LET THEM.
Free enterprise works.
