Trump has stated the new ballroom will be drone proof. Um..ok...cool I guess.
The president made the remarks while at a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump was criticizing Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell when he started talking about the ballroom, a pet project of his expected to cost hundreds of millions of dollars, which he says will come from private donations.
“Now, it’s bigger than I told you. It’s, you know — after realizing we’re gonna do the inauguration in that building,” Trump said. “It’s got all bulletproof glass, it’s got all drone — they call it drone-free roof, so drones won’t touch it. It’s a big, beautiful, safe building.”

No, it wasn't on our dime. Donations to the Historical society paid for it.
Each President is allotted $100,000 to make personal changes in the Whitehouse, with approval and guidance of Preservation committees. Anything costing more comes from donations to historical society.

??? why would be be upset how private individuals and corporations spend their $$. You seem quite upset that taxpayers are paying this $400,000. Why is that?

Why does that make any difference? You claim your concern is that it "dwarfs" the White House. The Executive Building literally dwarfs the WH. If that really is your concern, you should be advocating tearing it down.

?? The ballroom will be a different building, and only a few feet closer to the White House than is the Executive building.

The ballroom is an addition to the White House. Not a different building.
Be sure to donate generously because to keep it balanced, you need private funds to do it. Keep that in mind.
