Elon is building an army of robots and OpenAI is helping the government build mass surveillance systems and AI that can kill humans without oversight.

Haven't we seen this movie before?

"Late last week, the Pentagon dropped its AI contractor, Anthropic, after the company refused to allow the Department of War to use its technology for autonomous weapons systems or for mass surveillance of American citizens.

OpenAI jumped on the opportunity to become the Pentagon’s AI contractor, announcing the deal late on Friday.

The activist group QuitGPT are holding a rally outside of OpenAI’s headquarters in San Francisco from 4 to 6 p.m. today, to protest the deal."

AI is just an advanced search engine
Oh.

Then why did the president condemn Anthropic for refusing to comply with DoD wishes to allow mass surveillance and AI that can kill without human oversight?

Why is OpenAI taking the contract instead? What's happening here if AI is just a search engine?

Well, Anthropic certainly doesn't want any competition with the US Government on spying on people in the United States.

I think that you've been watching to much SyFy. Skynet isn't near to being built.

There will always be guardrails on what we allow the AI to do.

Evil Morty is afraid a Terminator robot is going to be birthed by the machines and will start murdering humans.

So you think the Chinese robots are not programed to humans?

It's about precedent, not about Terminator coming true tomorrow. It'll be a long road of poor decisions.

It's a dangerous path to flirt with.

Why does the government want to remove language that prevents them from using mass surveillance?

You really don't see any issue with AI that can kill people without oversight?

Anthropic is not oversight. We have a judiciary for that.

No company in the world gets a veto over our military and its operations.

So you thing\k the Chinese robets are not programed to humans?
We can hopefully figure something out with this. There needs to be an international discussion. This is dangerous.

Is this why we're doomed? We'll just justify stupid decisions based on mutual escalation until we destroy ourselves?

Another option should at least be looked for.

A veto is exactly what Anthropic did. That's why the president put them on blast publicly.

You're also avoiding engagement with the core point.

The military does not have to endure that veto. Which is why they terminated the contract. Not the first company to have that happen, and likely won't be the last.

are you upset about the concept or are you upset about the concept emerging under who is in charge?
