"Pentagon chief orders US spies to ‘deprioritise’ Russian cyber threats"

The order is a public statement that the US is not going to engage in offensive counter cyber attacks against Russia. The order says nothing about giving up defending against cyber attacks.

In security operations, when an enterprise is breached or attacked, the staff is not saying “oh, that’s from Russia, we will let that slide”. An attack is an attack whether it is from Russia, China, Korea, Iran, or from right herein the US.

And what possible reason could there be to allow an adversary even a slight dvantage in order to hurt the US? hmm?
So you are in favor of allowing China and Iran to have a slight advantage in order to hurt the US?

So the only thing that counts is the CBS report?
I'd say so.

Cybersecurity operations related to Russia continue, per people familiar with the actions. @SecDef Hegseth last month ordered US Cyber Command to temporarily pause some provocative offensive actions against Russia ahead of negotiations on the Ukraine war, per sources. Dem and GOP admins have in the past during sensitive talks paused certain operations. US cyber teams continue to prioritize threats from Russia and other actors, and planning and strategizing for future operations never paused, sources told me.NSC spokesman Brian Hughes declined to comment on specific orders or specific cyber intelligence or operations. "There's absolutely a steadfast commitment from President Trump, National Security Advisor Waltz and and the entire administration that America's safety and our national security are never going to be compromised," Hughes said.
@CBSNews

So you are in favor of allowing China and Iran to have a slight advantage in order to hurt the US?

Why is this an either or question? Are you saying if we aren't able to prioritize all cyber threats the same? lol

The order is a public statement that the US is not going to engage in offensive counter cyber attacks against Russia. The order says nothing about giving up defending against cyber attacks.

Russia also ran an aggressive influence campaign during the last presidential campaign, according to reports by U.S. intelligence agencies during the Biden administration. In recent election cycles, U.S. Cyber Command has conducted secret operations to hamper or curtail those influence efforts.

But the Trump administration has already begun to dismantle efforts by the F.B.I. and other agencies to warn about Russian propaganda, and the order by the Pentagon would halt, at least for now, any further Cyber Command efforts to interrupt future Russian influence campaigns.

So you are in favor of allowing China and Iran to have a slight advantage in order to hurt the US?
MARGARET BRENNAN: I want to ask you something, because of the position you have on Armed Services. CBS has confirmed these reports that Defense Secretary Hegseth has ordered U.S. Cyber Command to temporarily halt cyber operations and planning against Russia. The Washington Post reports that that's as long as the negotiations continue, there are no negotiations underway. Does this concern you? Have you been briefed on this?

REP. TURNER: I can't- I don't- no, I'm unaware of that and I don't believe that that would be- there are too many, I'm certain, considerations there for that to be an accurate statement, so blanket.

MARGARET BRENNAN: But they have ordered Cyber Command to halt cyber operations.

REP. TURNER: I- considering what I know that- that--

MARGARET BRENNAN: Is the linkage to the negotiations, is that your question?

REP. TURNER: Considering what I know, what- what Russia is currently doing against the United States, that would, I'm certain not be an accurate statement of the current status of the United States operations.

Turner, a member of the Hose Armed Services Com., can't believe the regime would do such a stupid thing.

"Billionaire smart" means big money smart. Attention to detail smart. Well educated and understands capitalism smart.
For example, when Amazon wanted to build HQ2 in NYC, in AOC's district, the stupid ***** said "no". Even though it would have meant 50,000 good jobs and $30b of new State revenue, plus turning a blighted area into an architectural wonder. That was stupid. So there is smart and there is stupid.

Trump knows that the US economy is the largest by far, and he leverages that to advantage, that is smart. Other countries can wage a tariff war, fine, Trump knows the numbers.

Of course Trump can't hide. I have no clue why the stupid **** keeps lying. Maybe because it doesn't matter?

Yeah, but then Trump doesn't seem to understand other things, like, don't make your friends angry.

China can be easier handled... Well before he did the idiotic tariffs...

IF Trump had soft power (which he squandered) he could easily say China did this to us (in NATO) and targeted Sanctions would be put on China in retaliation...
Not all of the Chinese attacks the government knows about... A lot of it is just cyber crime, which they will stop.

But Trump has said **** you to the world... For this, you are one you're on your own..

Everything will be OK. I promise.
