Checking today 10/24/25 on question as to has states shut down due to budget problems had by legislators. Are you aware that one state is shut down? It has long been my impression states must all have a budget on time. But not so for PA. 49 states operate correctly on time. Wasn't there attempts made to get the Feds to have on time budgets? 13 years now since the Feds had an on time budget. Can this be fixed? I understand that Clinton had the last on time budget. Will voting fix it? By citizens?

While Americans across the country deal with the consequences of the federal government shutdown, residents of Pennsylvania are being hit with a double blow.

Pennsylvania has been without a state budget for over 100 days – and remains the only state currently operating without a budget.

As a political scientist at Penn State who studies state politics and policy, I see how Pennsylvania’s budget impasse has ripple effects that are compounded by the current budget problems in Washington.
