POLK COUNTY, Fla. - A trip to Florida for a national championship turned into a fumble for a youth football team from Philadelphia this weekend, leaving eight teenagers in handcuffs and their teammates short-handed for the big game.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested eight members of the "United Thoroughbreds," a traveling youth football team, on Saturday morning. The teens, ranging in age from 14 to 15, were charged with felonies after deputies say they coordinated a scheme to steal more than $2,200 worth of merchandise from a Dick’s Sporting Goods in Posner Plaza.

According to the arrest report, the group didn't just grab items and run; they had a playbook. Deputies say the teens split into two squads. One 15-year-old purchased a small item at the front register to acquire a legitimate store bag. He then met up with the rest of the team in the aisles, where they allegedly stuffed the bag—and a separate backpack—with high-end gear.

LOL.....Philly strikes again!

Note that FL does not care what age the perps are....Up go the mug shots!

Typical, you are a guest in another state and the first thing you plan on when you get there is to go stealing.

Their parents need to pay reparations to the store.

can someone tag IM2 on this one? He has me on his iggy list.

LOL....One of them is named IBM!
How do you even pronounce that? :eusa_wall:

IBM-MAHDEE ABDUL-HAQQ

A name with a double QQ. I feel sorry for LEO and others officials now who have to deal with such stuff. When I was growing up, we all had recognizable mostly biblical names like Peter, Mary, Paul, Sam, and Richard.

I can only guess the pronunciation to this might be:
'Ibem-Madee Abdul-Hack.

There was also a two-fer of Tymirs. :laughing0301:

15th post
My guess is that the staff at Dick's had their eyes on this group from the second they entered the premises. As a result, they'll probably complained that they were being "profiled"

A classic case of cultural shock. The kids were probably amazed to learn that stealing in Florida is not tolerated the way it is in Philly.
They should have been warned by the adults travelling with them.
