Parler CEO Says Parler May Be Offline Longer Than Expected -- Why Didn't We Let The Free Market Decide???

Why shouldn't internet providers be considered utilities?
We tried that but conservatives decided that wasn't free market enough.

Seriously, read about net neutrality. There's three reasons that conservatives were against it.

1. They're too stupid to understand what the hell it even means. See Ted Steven's (born 1923) a series of tubes comment.
2. They decided that corporation's needs are greater than the people's needs.
3. Most importantly, Obama supported it which made it bad.

Internet service providers should be considered utilities because they meet most criteria of it, specifically that physical cable and fiber is a natural monopoly. You know what isn't a natural monopoly? Servers.

Ever hear of zoning regulations? I can't live in an industrial zoned area legally. is that fascism?

I want to hold amazon to the standard of a utility as a carrier or provider of internet services, only when providing certain services required for access to the internet. The FCC already has their foot in the door regarding this, I am not creating new law by asking for it.

You want our dissent in the closet, and your position supported by modern technology.

"You can be free, but only 15th century free"
Zoning regulations? This isn't about determine what can be built where, it's determining if a private entity must support violent rhetoric of an unmoderated platform.

The FCC does not regulate server space. That's idiotic. Go ahead and build your own server and publish all the violent rhetoric you want. If you want to talk about actual internet service providers being required to transmit data, I'm on your side, but forcing a server host to publish something is too far.

No, it just shows your viewpoints are countered by others.
It’s not a counter. You’re comparing pornography to violent threats on people’s lives. It’s not a legitimate comparison.

I'm pointing out that Amazon only seems to care about being seen as "supporting" something when it's right leaning politics, and only notices violence when its from right leaning sources.

I'm sure you feel that way, but you are a Trumpster, and as such refuse to acknowledge the damage his and his supporters lies have wrought on our country.

The only damage I see is the damage done by the left in their attempt to get rid of him by any means nessasary.

The right's inability to see reality is well known.

It takes two to tango, I knew the left was into the fight at all costs when CNN went from a news site to a propaganda site, when analysis and opinion pieces took the headlines every single day.

I stopped going to Daily Kos for my counter-intel because CNN was spouting the same crap and in a more organized fashion.
The lack of self awareness you Trumpers have is amazing......

You guys literally called Fox News traitors because they had the audacity to tell you the truth about Trump losing the election.....

The minute they cut off their 24/7 propaganda for one segment -- you fragile snowflakes went more nuts than you already were....

Where did I call them traitors?

More like quislings.

Yes. The entire world is out to get you. You should discuss that with your therapist.

To the left the ends always justifies the means, Trump just made them take off their masks full time.

Net Neutrality as proscribed had issues with not being tech savvy enough, and too concentrated on bandwidth flow. As proposed it would have been a threat to the overall system with its limits to throttling certain high usage applications.

Net Neutrality had nothing to do with the content, which would suit your side just fine.

An electric company has to provide power to Nazis, do they support the Nazis?

So only someone who can afford their own servers deserves free speech on the internet, got it.

No Trump just wanted to be a dictator.

Nope, try again.

Just repeating it ad nauseum doesn't make it right.

Literally yes, but a power company isn't posting Nazi symbols on their property so the analogy fails.

Power companies are natural monopolies. There is no way you could consider a web server to be a natural monopoly. The internet is literally the opposite.

They are allowing the Nazis to spread their idiocy, it powers their computers, lights their meetings, makes their Nazi coffee.

More and more governments are declaring internet access to be essential to society, like power, water, and like the phones it is replacing as a communication medium.

Net neutrality had everything to do with content you doofus. Net neutrality said that no data could be prioritized or valued over other data. That data is the content.

Without net neutrality, your ISP could say that it doesn't want to serve data from Parler at all. That would be wrong, in my opinion. The massive inconsistencies in your opinion is demonstrating how little you know about this and how much it's driven by petty partisanship.

I'm not arguing that Parler shouldn't be allowed to exist on the internet, I'm just saying you can't force a company to host it for them. I agree that internet access is essential, but if Parler wants to exist on the internet, they can't force people to do it for them.

The data isn't the words, it's the purpose and the amount. They were fixated on flow and bandwidth, and their regulations would have stopped not controlling political speech, but the companies from throttling 500 people in an area trying to stream
"Big black Cocks 5, the return of the Jizz" to allow people using lower bandwidth requests to have good access.

Then by proxy you want them shut down, which is worse because you won't admit your controlling fascist nature.

"I didn't shut them down, they were just too evil to find a hosting site, or a server provider, or a building to house the servers, or cable from amazon, or power from a power company"

Slippery slope argument, damn right it is.

You're crawfishing. This was about Amazon provider host servers, not about internet service providers.

Power companies are natural monopolies. Server space is not. You're comparing two incomparable things.

Here's a better analogy. A group of Nazi's want to build a new Nazi clubhouse with a giant swastika on top and a series of ceremonial ovens. Should a building contractor be forced to build it for them?

Fuck no.

And without net neutrality, they could have throttled or blocked Parler if they so choose.

The data is the content. How old are you? Perhaps you can have your grandkids explain this to you.

The internet service providers will be next on the "we don't want them" list.

You can't have the sites without the servers, so by denying them easy server space you accomplish your goal.

That's not a better analogy, because contractors are a dime a dozen, and since many Nazi types are blue collar I would assume plenty of them are contractors themselves.

Server hosting is a much more limited industry, and lacking the $$ to buy your own means you have to use a hosting service, and so we are back to "freedom for the wealthy" as your position.

Young enough to understand the issues the companies had with the laws as written. It would have hampered them in regulating bandwidth flow, and made them open to legal liability for simply trying to keep the networks optimum.

And of course you side with corporations when it doesn't impact conservative snowflakes.

Keeping networks optimum involves throttling content that paying customers are requesting and closing for them what content they get to see. And yet here you are condemning Amazon for something so much less egregious.

This isn't about free speech, it's about conservatives forcing people to do their bidding to support their political cause. You're just wrapping it in free speech because you don't understand the issue or you're too scared to admit it.

I side with my online gaming not being up to 800ms of lag when a bunch of people want to download Herbie fully loaded all at once.

Here I am saying people selling Net Neutrality as being Neutral politically are lying.
