Robert E Lee was torn in which side he should fight on and ultimately ended up going with the Confederacy due to his home state of Virginia's stance

If people are going to comment on history they should at least have some clue of it

Oh, and there are at least a few historians who have suggested that Lee, due to his brilliance as a tactician, extended the war.

I find it amusing that those who praise the confederacy see Lee as such a hero. He was adamantly opposed to the secession and called it "nothing but revolution". He viewed it as unconstitutional and as a betrayal of the Founding Fathers work. Only his honor prevented him from leaving his beloved Virginia and fight for the Union forces.

Tell ya what Gomer -- 'round here in Appalachia I see occasional Stars and Bars flags. There's even a couple of yahoos who drive around in their pickup truck waving 'em. What they may not realize is ---- this area stayed loyal to the Union in that war. The citizens voted not to secede at all. That flag didn't fly here.

At Gettysburg they have a very large statue of Lee overlooking the field of the third days battle. I have no problem with that. And I have no problem with the people of New Orleans deciding what statues they want, or do not want in their city. Of course, it would be fun to see Stevie boi's reaction should they have replaced those statues with ones of the Tuskegee Airmen, the Buffalo Soldiers, and Martin Luther King. LOL
