Our Poiltics Are Different

....and sometimes...."truth" is just another series of well worn cliches....:eusa_eh:

Oh wait....that wouldn't be truth then.

Are you saying that all cliches are false?

Sometimes they are - sometimes they aren't.

Most of these are since he is taking the views of extremists and portraying them as the views of all liberals. Gets old and tired.

For example - would this be true:

If a conservative is homosexual, he gets drummed out of his party
If a progressive is homosexual, he gets to quietly lead his own life

Yes that is the problem with most cliches because they are almost always hyperbole with more exceptions than rule within the statement. But unless there at least a grain of truth contained within them, they don't stand the test of time and don't become cliches.

They can be useful at times to illustrate the dynamics within an issue or problem or simply to use as metaphor to illustrate one's meaning at the moment. Such meaning does not have to be exclusive of all other meanings or circumstances that could also apply.

But I'll agree they can be overused and should be recognized for what they are.

I almost never start a story with "It was a dark and stormy night" anymore. :)
