We ain't doing another one. It's too much trouble. I cooked the turkey, which was easy, and I cooked the rolls and potatos. Still it's too much mess to clean up for what we get out of it. Christmas too. Forget it. No more. I'll make hamburgers or sandwiches.

With all that work involved, it's probably better to turn Jewish and just go eat Chinese food.

Wait....what am I saying? My wife did all the work. :auiqs.jpg:

We went with all plastic this yr because nobody helped with the dishes.

We're both just tired of it.

It was a pretty good meal this year. We had a large turkey breast in the freezer, so we didn't do a whole turkey. The dressing was perfect, as was the green bean casserole. There there was mashed potatoes, gravy, whole cranberry sauce, crescent rolls from a can, and home-made pumpkin pie.

By just cooking a breast, you tend not to make so much of everything else. So the preparation and cleanup was easier this year. Plus my wife has a sigh over the kitchen sink: It reads"No husband has ever been shot while doing dishes", so she gets off easy this year. :04:

Putting out our best china and linens, setting up in the dining room ( after all the hobby stuff is cleared off) and even getting dressed up is part of the appeal of a holiday.

The Wife and I are the only ones celebrating holidays these day so I get where you're coming from.
The only reason we're making thanksgiving dinner is to try the spatchcock method of cooking a bird.
We almost said fuck it we'll make thanksgiving dinner tomorrow since neither of us was all that hungry.

We hit up the Chinese joints.

After I hosted for 40 or so years, my daughter and her husband hosted this year. They did a great job! So good, in fact, that I think we've started a new tradition! :woohoo:

Why do you go to all that trouble for just you alone?

May be you and your wife can prepare a smaller Thanksgiving dinner next time?

small turkey or chicken potatoes to roast with the chicken....salad

buy a pumpkin pie.... some ice cream....wine or champagne

and that' it

that's not so difficult I think, what do you think?
