You wonder why he was tried in the first place, and then you say Oregon, but it was pretty obvious he could have left the scene without shooting anyone. That he "stood his ground" and did what he did should not warrant being tried for it, I'm glad the jury did the right thing, even if I understand, under the law, his life at the time of shooting was not under threat.

The third armed robber, who fled the scene, would also be shot and killed in an unrelated shooting.

Glad to see that he was found not guilty, Oregon jury did the right thing.

Its an interesting case. He was already out of the shop so was not at risk to make a self defense claim. Although less relevant, he was an employee, not the owner.

I'd proffer this is a bit of ye olde FA and FO jury charge nullification determination by the jury. Additionally, it didn't appear to be a hung jury by an actual decision.
