The problem with socialism is that it disincentives EVERYONE.
For those with minimal education or career training, it disincentives them from making the sacrifices to earn a decent salary. Why take the subway from Queens to downtown Manhattan every day, including walking to and from the stations when it’s snowing, or raining, or sleeting, and then working 8 hours as an office support worker or an assistant manager at a restaurant for $50,000 a year when your basic needs are met? Or, why go to school at night to get a degree and qualify for a better job?
To the high achievers, why sacrifice to train for a well-paying career, and then work 60 hours a week, when your taxes will be sky-high to provide for the people who did not prepare for a career (or trade)?
Or, to put it in simpler terms, would C students expend effort to bring up their grade, and would A students keep putting in all that time and effort to ace tests, if everyone was going to get a B no matter what?
