how many consequential bills were passed with only the VP providing the deciding vote in the Senate if necessary. Requiring zero Dem defections. Not easy with Manchin and Sinema as part of the caucus. Ever since the filibuster became the obstructive tool it is nowadays even holding a 59-41 majority is not enough against unified opposition in the Senate. Unless, that is, a bill allows for a simple majority for passage.
19 Senate Repubs voted for the infrastructure bill. Not getting one passed being one of the many failings of the orange shitstorm. The vote for the IRA was 50-50 with Harris being the tiebreaker. A bill Repubs would hypocritically go on to tout to their constituents after voting against it.

Amazing about-face from the members of Congress who tried to stop the bill in the first place

House Republicans who voted against the infrastructure bill have been touting funding for their state that came from it.
Imagine my surprise.
