What happened here was bullshit and absolutely the wrong way to go about it. As a parent I would go ballistic.
But the teen is clearly letting her mother know that she's sexually active or considering becoming so.Teens are vain, selfish, manipulative, soulless creatures from the depths of hell and will usually find a way to do what they wish to do. Taking away their computer isn't going to resolve what is wrong in this parents household.
At the least, the very least, this girl is protected from pregnancy.
