OK, who had Indiana, Georgia Tech, Vandy, and BYU in the AP college football top 10?

Gotta give college football credit.

This isn't college womens basketball 10 years ago when UCONN wouldn't lose a game for 3+ years.

There is parity in college football, and today's AP top 10 proves it

It's really interesting this year.
I'm an Ohio State alum and worked there for over three decades so obviously I'm a bit of a Buckeye fan.
But it's fun to see moribund programs like Indiana University get completely renewed by Curt Cignetti. It's made for a fascinating season ... and I'm more of an NFL guy than a college fan.

Indiana's "ascension" is breathtaking.

Cignetti is THE GUY!!!

Totally. He's the Real Deal.
OSU doesn't play them this year ... unless we run into them in the Big 10 Championship Game.
And I'll be honest; I'd be nervous to face them.

Cignetti is good,

Transfer Portal and NIL are MORE powerful.

Nobody knew who Curt Cignetti was 4 years ago.
Fact, you didn't.

Just like the Head Coaches at North and South Dakota State.
Powerhouses for Years.
Who is their HC, and will these guys ascend like Cignetti did?

Cignetti knows how to coach, no doubt, but the transfer to Indiana made the program powerful and Cignetti ignited that POWER.

Cignetti absolutely deserves credit, but don't dismiss the power of NIL and the Transfer Portal.

I shared a bus ride with Curt Cignetti when he was 19. All he did was talk football the whole time. I took him as a sportswriter type who wasn't a great athlete, but had a lot of interest in the game and the players. I had no idea what he would become.

No doubt transfer portal has created Indy and Vandy in 2025. Vandy still has by far the worst recruiting in the SEC out of high school.

Don't follow GaTech.

Indiana did it right, which was to look at Division 2 football and see who the innovators and biggest successes were among coaches.

Those that can do a lot with little, will do great things with a lot.

It sure beats looking at big name programs who have had some modest success with other teams and assuming they will work great for you in your program.

That's fascinating! No way anybody could have seen it coming. He's clearly brilliant.

Can't say I'm a fan of parity. Part of sports fun is having a team to hate--the evil team!

The Dallas Cowboys are a great example. They have a lot of fans in Mexico and areas like it, but a lot of people hate them. People are joyous when they lose.

The New York Yankees are another team to hate.

Short answer is that parity is boring.

I love watching the Manning boy fail. I hate Nepo babies.

God I wanted Alabama to lose so bad. Down 8 they scored and got the 2 point conversion. Then the other team fumbled with 2 minutes to go. All that crappy team had to do was pick up a couple first downs and score a field goal with no time left. But they blew it! Is Bama going to make the playoffs? They almost lost their 3rd game. They probably have an easy schedule the rest of the way?

Too bad in the end OSU is going to win it all. As a Michigan fan I hate to say it but your 4 teams are not on the same level as OSU.

That was a very sad loss for the Chickens. They were so close.

Arch Manning is in concussion protocol and hence is very questionable against vandy on Sat....
