AI and old videos fuel propaganda war on social media​

As the conflict between Israel and Iran escalates, disinformation on social media is also growing. In some cases, old videos are being resurfaced from past conflicts. Others are fully, or partially, generated by artificial intelligence. Some clips are even footage from video games.

One video circulating on Instagram on Friday showed a burning skyline, which some users described as an Israeli missile strike on Iran, while others claimed it showed Israel. Neither was correct — NBC News used a reverse image search to find the original, which came from a live news broadcast showing the U.S. bombing of Iraq in 2003.

Another video was originally from the 2012 video game "War Thunder," the original credit covered up by a new, incorrect text box claiming it showed Iran intercepting an Israeli jet.

Both a photo claiming to show Israeli intelligence HQ in ruins and a video of a nuclear bomb-sized mushroom cloud in Tehran on X appeared to be AI-generated, based on NBC News' visual analysis and confirmation through a tool operated by Google that identifies its own AI-generative technology.

Truth is the first casualty of War.

Well, the initial reports were wrong about the markets crashing. I made a thread about this and I was pretty upset. As I saw that my crypto coins lost value and the S&P 500 premarket was down about a third of a point.


Because the truth is when the US strike hit Iran cryptocurrency tumbled in a big way. Bitcoin lost about 3% Ethereum lost as much as 11% for these were significant losses. Thankfully, they’ve gained back some of the losses and S&P 500 did not tank… So there’s actually been some good news out of this market wise.

Separately it can be shown that the Bomb Buster operation was incompetently handled and a complete failure despite Trumpfy's hysterical proclamations and Fake patriotic tub thumping .

it seems quite possible /likely that this B2 Bomber stunt was a PR operation which had one of its objectives as :-

Giving space to Israel which is in internal trouble and has an acute shortage of missiles .

The one thing the stunt did not achieve was to curb any Iranian secret development work to achieve nuclear weapon levels of enriched uranium .
And , incidentally , there is zero evidence so far that they are even trying to do this .
