It turns out that not all Canadians took offense to US President Donald J. Trump’s criticizing Canada for relying on American subsidies, and his further suggestion that the Great White North should become ‘another United State’.

“In oil-rich Alberta, where a movement for independence from Canada appears to be gathering steam, many see in Trump a powerful and important ally whose haranguing of their former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was as welcome as his calls to ‘drill baby, drill’. ​

What is now needed is a plebiscite vote in the two provinces.
I doubt if Ottawa would allow such a vote that would be devastating to the government and Commonwealth, because the whole of government would collapse...

I hate the thought of all the Leftists being added to the US by making Canada a state of the US, but if only a slice of it is added with people who are not rabid Left wingers and add oil to the US, this might work!!!

Canada is a failing confederation that has been propped up by its benevolent neighbor to the south. Now that it is being forced act like a legitimate country, it is falling apart. Its Western Provinces have much more in common with the US than with the rest of Canada.

If those Provinces choose to go their own way, the remaining hodgepodge of Eastern Provinces might revert to their previous colonial status. Ontario could go back to the UK, while Quebec could be part of France. The Maritime Provinces could join Maine or Greenland, and that would be that.

Quebec tried to secede a couple of years ago and that didn't work. It's doubtful if Alberta would get away with it.

Any part of Canada who wants to secede and become the 51st state and the 52nd state, etc. will be welcomed. Fortunately, the woke provinces won't want to do it and we don't want them anyway.
