As a country we have the fullest jails in the world. And very often cop killers are first time offenders.

And letting violent criminals out of jail doesn't mean we have the prison system helping reduce our crime rates...since when they get out, they commit more crime...

Sheriff Clarke was the County Sheriff, not the Mayor of Milwaukee. But even he said in 2013 that citizens could no longer rely on the police for timely protection and should arm themselves.

The reason? It has become apparent to people that despite the hype, the cops are not the ones in the most danger. The victims of the crimes, are the first ones to arrive on the scene. They are the ones confronting brutal assaults, rapes, robberies, and even murder. Because they are targeted by the criminals, not the cops.
