Not quite true. It takes double the income to buy a house today than just over 3 years ago.

I don't have my analysis in front of me, but around the 1950s or 60s, the average (or median) house was approx. 2 times the average (or median) annual household wage. Since then it's increased every decade, and as of last year an average (or median) house is 4-5 times the average (or median) annual household wage. That's how I remember it, it's simple to look up. Here a pinch:

Ave. household income in 2022 was $74,580. And the average home price in the United States was $348,079. The disparity is much further today. The median price of a home in the United States is currently $439,455.

In 1960, the average median income for families in the United States was $5,600. and the median price of a home was $11,900,
