The shooter had a legal gun. There were people in the crowd with legal guns. I don't think you really read the story. It was over in seconds. The "responsible" gun owners didn't want to hit innocent people. I give them credit for not making a bad situation worse. From what I understand..one of them had a gun aimed at one of the people that dispatched the shooter. He wasn't sure so he didn't take the shot.
