Here's the elephant in the livingroom: Republicans don't actually have any solutions. They can't manage immigration reform, they can't agree on ISIS, they stumble on gay marriage, they have no solution for healthcare costs, they've got dick for the stangant middle class wages, they have no solution for the uninsured.

In short, they're very poor on policy positions. The GOP's platform is and has been for the last 4 years little more than looking at Obama and declaring 'whatever he said, **** that'.

You have republicans voting against the bills they sponsored if the President supports them, their instinct for irrational opposition is that strong. So what else can they do?

I don't think it's irrational at all.

It's quite intentional.

The GOP cannot do anything that might result in benefit for the American people. They can only do symbolic things, that give righties and emotional victory, and not much of that lately either.

If anything good happens while Obama is in office, the GOP knows the Democrats will take credit for it. It's a shining example of the downside within the concept of "it happened under Obama's watch"
