My Dad's best friend was one of the first US troops in Hiroshima after the blast. He would never talk about it, but his wife said he found it "gut-wrenching," to say the least. Kerry didn't apologize. He reacted like a human being who can acknowledge that we are all human beings and who has some respect for life. I think his quote was very appropriate.

The Federalist lied when it said in it's headline that the Obama Administration 'apologizes' for winning WW2.

In the actual article- the Federalist were unable to cite that claim- and didn't even try to back up the lie in the title.
