The number of prosecutors fleeing the city’s district attorneys offices has spiraled in the wake of criminal justice reforms that have created what one ex-top prosecutor called “insanity.”

Sixty-five assistant district attorneys, or about 12 percent of the staff, have resigned so far this year from Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s office, up from about 44 through the end of March. During all of 2021, 97 ADAs quit.

There are indications all over that normal people have had enough of the progressive nonsense, and we are swing back. The midterms will be a blowout!

And then came the harvesters

Without exception, every person who I've seen use the term "woke" non-ironically is absolute shit human.

The trend continues here. They define "basic human decency" as "wokeness", and then declare how they hate it.

The New York Post. More divisive bullshit from Rupert Murdoch.

At the end of the day it won't matter.

If anyone questions he will say "they couldn't handle my standards so they left to go find easy jobs they could pencil whip" and then he will bring in lawyers that are with his stance of being soft on crime and letting blacks commit felonies and then give them misdemeanors. The good ones will quit, he will publicly dismiss it, and restock the place with progressive yes men and new Yorks crime problems will worsen.

And when they worsen out comes the racism, white supremacy cops, conservatives, slavery, Republicans, etc etc hand waving and it will go back to being ignored. While he continues to make big bucks and build his resume.

This. The right wing resurrected the term "woke" to divide and to deny basic human kindness and respect to anyone they deem as "different" or not conforming to their "Christian" beliefs.

Cheap ass rhetoric from a lib. How usual.

Instead of playing your petty ass fallacy game of “attack the messenger,” why not consider what some of those interviewed actually said? An ex veteran prosecutor noted that the new rules and procedures require the Assistant DA’s to gather all manner of police-generated (and other) paperwork and the body camera videos from all the officers who respond to a scene and tons of other things. Then they have to collate it all, turn it all over under strict time constraints and certify that they got it all. Woe be unto them if they don’t get some esoteric form the cops forgot to mention they filled out. Trivia like that actually matters.

It all takes time, but the clock is ticking. And given statutory speedy trial time limits, the amount of time spent being a file clerk and secretary is time that can’t be spent on other things like interviewing witnesses and engaging in further investigation.

The burden is always on the prosecution, as it should be. But the legislature keeps piling on more minutia without regard to how impossible they are making prosecutions.

It was easily predictable before they enacted these new laws that there would be consequences. Excellent for those accused. Not so good for the balance of society. Our government seems to forget that according a defendant a fair trial is not supposed to entail a requirement for a perfect trial.
