Personally, I thought the cartoon was funny and did not see any racial undertones in it. However, protesters believe the cartoon "likened a violent chimpanzee shot dead by police to President Barack Obama." Of course, Al Sharpton has something to say about it. I'm surprised Jesse Jackson wasn't there. Did anyone else think this was racist? Or just a bunch of junk over nothing?

Here's a picture of the cartoon.

Yes it is racist and those that deny it is are full of crap.

The person who drew this can not do what he does for a living and not realize the impact this would have on some and the editor is an idiot if he didnt realize it.

People were offended by it so they were just fucking wrong huh?

Now that people are offended what do they do? They call them liars.

When you offend someone and then tell them they are lying about being offended you are a complete piece of shit.

When one throws around the "racist" appellation, it would behoove one to know when to use "is" and when to use "are."

Here is the lowdown. In June of '08 the NYPost exposed Al Sharpton's scam of threatening businesses as follows:
"Almost 50 companies - including PepsiCo, General Motors, Wal-Mart, FedEx, Continental Airlines, Johnson & Johnson and Chase - and some labor unions sponsored Sharpton's National Action Network annual conference in April.

Terrified of negative publicity, fearful of a consumer boycott or eager to make nice with the civil-rights activist, CEOs write checks, critics say, to NAN and Sharpton - who brandishes the buying power of African-American consumers. In some cases, they hire him as a consultant. "

This "protest" is Sharpton getting even.

Believe otherwise and risk being labelled a dolt.

Extremely bad taste and yes, racist. The cartoonist used a recent episode to pretend and hide behind, I would have liked him to go down some mean street and ask Blacks their opinion. Maybe then he would lose his simple minded cover.

Jeesh, unless you all know what was in the guy's mind as he drew the cartoon you've no idea if he meant to be racist or not.

I'd go with unintentionally offensive to some.

Blacks are not allowed to be insulted unless PC approves of their feelings?

Why do people refuse to understand they dont get to deside for others this way?

Typical. People like you are so blind from the true meaning of things like this. The artist is simply saying we might as well have monkeys (or chimps) write the "stimulus" bill since the dumbass' in congress seem to not think logically. But instead, becuase the cartoon goes against obama and his socialist ways, they mark it as racism. I'm sick and tired of the race card.

Bullshit.

If this guy REALLY did not understand how some would take this cartoon ( and reasonably so) then he should find another job because he doesnt understand his own market.

no one has a right to not be offended. you should write that on your hand so you don't forget.

RACE CARD????????

Look you taintwallow , that is a racists way out of NOT facing the FACT that this cartoon DID offend people.

Now that they are offended you call them LIARS.

If you used this same tact when someone said your wife looked like a whale you would not be married for long huh?

So the consensus on the right here is that black people need your permission to be offened by anything huh?

That doesn't mean he meant it in a racist way. That chimp was in the news up there, so he more than likely wasn't thinking from a racial angle.

Are you trying to tell me that every time I think of a chimp I have to keep in mind that mentioning a chimp might offend black people?

bwahahahahahahaha! That's racist.

Maybe because you dont see your own racism.

Should Mr Sharpton have to ask the right for permission to be offended from now on?

nobody said that,, anybody can be offended by anything they choose. Don't you agree.. Many many Republicans were offended by the portrayals of George Bush as a primate, but that didn't stop a damn one of you from doing it anyway.. so go scratch your faux itchy place whdonchya?
