This is a New York Jets fanfare-preview for NFL Season 53, inspired by the acquisition-talks involving QB Kirk Cousins.

Anyone a fan of Jerry Maguire or the 1990s Cowboys management-coaching controversy?

I couldn't resist commenting on the final demise of Brady's Patriots which was simply making NFL television boring and predictable...

When will Trump start talking about consumerism at the pedestrian level (i.e., sports tabloids)?

Everyone was bored with seeing titan-QB Tom Brady's seemingly-indomitable New England Patriots (NFL) win Super Bowl titles. The Patriots had just been toppled in Super Bowl 52 [2018] by the surprising Philadelphia Eagles just shortly after defeating the Seattle Seahawks (Pete Carroll) and Atlanta Falcons (Matt Ryan) in Super Bowls since 2000. Brady had 5 Lombardi trophies, and NFL fans were relieved the Eagles managed to do what up until now no one but Eli Manning's upstart NY Giants managed to do --- defeat the Patriots in the Super Bowl (and the Eagles did it only after losing in their first attempt in the Super Bowl to defeat the Patriots in Super Bowl 39!). Now, NFL fans looked to another green-colored (just like the Eagles!) NFL team to support and cheer on to take down the Patriots again --- the reorganizing New York Jets(!). The Jets just acquired young cool QB Kirk Cousins from the Washington Redskins. Everyone wanted to bet on the Jets now.

Tom Cruise decided to donate one of his secret Green Lantern (DC Comics) themed fighter-jet authentic replicas (hand-crafted by one of the most respected airline and U.S. military vehicle/jet model-makers, Thomas Nasty) to the city of New York on behalf of the Jets with whom he was working out some media-PR event involving his Church of Scientology (and Dianetics!). The Jets took the Lantern jet-model gift from Cruise and used it to motivate themselves to win every game they could for NFL Season 53. Who would support Kirk Cousins as reliable receivers, tight-ends, and offensive-line protectors so they could take down Brady's Patriots in the AFC? Cruise was a sudden fresh-new 'celebrity face' in the sports-media fanfare arena/department. It all felt...democratic.

The Jets commissioned some vintage game-flyers from yesteryear to augment their Season 53 campaign and the acquisition of QB Kirk Cousins. The Jets had not been super since the days of Joe Namath (1972) and then again since the days of Vinny Testaverde (2000). Could Kirk Cousins be the new 'prodigy-QB face' of the always fan-cheered NY Jets? The vintage game-flyers became a hit with audiences looking to cheer for teams other than Brady's Patriots. They even became models for specially-commissioned U.S. NY Jets postage-stamps (issued on St. Patrick's Day!). Some rumoured that it was President Trump who advised the production of these Jets postage-stamps. Cruise was on board...maybe Trump was on board...would terrorists be on board?

Since consumerism created all kinds of chatter about intellectual property authorship prestige related political 'dominion' (e.g., NATO, Wall Street, European Union), terrorists were involved in the era of media-marketed sports (e.g., 1972 Munich Summer Olympics massacre). Cruise was suggesting that his Church of Scientology promoted a balanced view of the empirical maturity Americans were showing towards marketing-catalysed pluralism (e.g., Facebook) necessary to make capitalism/consumerism feel more 'user-friendly.' It was a savvy marketing-manoeuvre, and soon, Cruise's Hollywood peer and buddy Tom Hanks was in on the action, promoting sports-culture in interviews since he had made the film Philadelphia and cheered for the Eagles on TV during their Super Bowl victory-parade!

Was it about dollars or aesthetics? Everyone was curious to see how/what the shape of 'TrumpUSA' would direct (in terms of merchandising). Merchandising was something that anti-Western and anti-capitalism terrorists (e.g., ISIS, Al Qaeda) simply despised and viewed as a glaring symbol of industrialization-related morally apathetic untampered avarice and power-game quests. After 9/11, Americans were even wary to attend major public events in highly-exposed social 'monuments' (such as Super Bowl stadiums), since commerce-peace 'consciousness' was shattered when the World Trade Center in NYC came crashing down. Could the newly-organized Kirk Cousins led NY Jets provide a necessary 'boost' for media idealism? Tom Cruise thought it was possible, and maybe even President Trump agreed...

It was a chess game from the perspective of many society-critics and movie-fans looking for Americans to create re-presentations and reflections of sports-media culture. Tom Cruise had of course made the sports-culture film Jerry Maguire (Cameron Crowe), and a new generation of movie-stars (e.g., Matt Damon, Jude Law, Heath Ledger, Hayden Christensen) wanted to 'wisely-exploit' this new trend in media-gauged merchandising. After all, Oliver Stone had already made two Wall Street films, so audiences were curious about what kinds of 'commercialism films' would be inspired by 'TrumpUSA.' Trump wanted Spielberg to make a media-biopic about him titled Casino Captain starring Alec Baldwin as himself(!).

Can media be compatible with social prestige in the age of free-agency and merchandising and eBay? That's really what this 'American essay' is all about. Maybe we're green with eco-poison/pollution or green with Eurofashion-envy, but whatever it means, the NY Jets should at least have a solid fanfare-introspection NFL Season 53 under the captaincy of QB Kirk Cousins. Hail to the media! "Hail to Tom Cruise and Jerry Maguire," said Trump.
