Correct.... I don't know about the mayor bossing the Governor around but there's no way she can just terminate him as an elected official. They would have to bring charges against him and get him convicted of something and possibly even jailed before they could replace him... and at this point that would be very risky for them to try.
It would certainly look like Lawfare.

Adams actually used to be a Republican, even if he's a NY Northeast Republican.

The whole thing is fraught with legal and political peril for them. It seems like most of the residents of NYC are with Eric Adams. New York state's position on this issue is simply inexplicable.

What is peculiar about this is that the allegations about Adams' corruption have been known for many months. Yet Hochul didn't think about making this move until the DOJ determined they didn't have a case and dismissed the charges.

If Adams is corrupt now, wasn't he just as corrupt last month? Why wasn't he removed last month or last year?

Looks like a knee-jerk reaction on part of a leftard guv, that if a Republican says there isn't a case, their must be.

I don't think that if Garland were still in charge of DOJ, that Hochul would even be entertaining this , especially since these are just allegations.

But, for all this time, Gov. Hochum (yes; it’s an altered last letter) hasn’t lifted her dopey finger about the Mayor’s alleged behavior, now that he’s off the hook, she is motivated to considering removing him from office?

Why? Because he is moving away from the sanctuary city crap in NYC? Isn’t removing him (to undermine the Trump decision) also purely political?

Four prosecutors resigned in disgust at being asked to drop a case that has lots of evidence, the legal justifications for dropping a case like this have not been met. It's the job of these people to uphold the law, uphold the constitution and when choosing between their oaths and Trump they rightly align with their oaths as any decent public servant should.

One of them - Sassoon - was even appointed by Trump.
