In a Republic, actually
‘Trump and his administration raised eyebrows about how they handled sensitive national security information long before his top national security advisor added a journalist to a Signal chat. Security experts say sharing detailed plans for attacking the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen with a journalist from the Atlantic is part of a larger problem involving Trump and his security team’s overall handling of sensitive information.

The sloppiness of their security is pervasive,” Kori Schake, a senior fellow at the conservative American Enterprise Institute,” told USA TODAY. Schake said CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard's claims that the time, date, and weapons used were not classified information is “staggering.”

Mike Williams, an international relations professor at Syracuse University who has consulted the Department of Defense, said repeated national security lapses can create a culture of complacency at best or neglect at worse. “Or it creates a culture whereby this becomes permissible and then you have more and more such leakages and then it’s only a matter of time before something gets out there,” Williams said. The White House did not respond to a request for comment on Trump's record on information security.

Sloppy, negligent, incompetent, irresponsible – this is the failed Trump ‘administration,’ its mishandling of sensitive national security information places American service members at risk, along with the rest of the American people.

Trump is unfit to be president.

Blow it out your ear. There is no Signal crisis or any other crisis. Just like with Russiagate, Impeachgate, J6Gate, RaidMarALagoGate, CriminalGate and Assassigate, Signalgate is just one more manufactured "crisis" made up by the far Left because it is all you've got.

His AG is just as bad.

Rumor is that Trump is waiting till the bad media disappears until he shitcans Waltz.

Toob, that was a serious security lapse, indicative of an overall AMATEUR attitude towards their responsibilities.

No it wasn't.
  1. There was no actionable info about who the target was or where the assault was coming from in the communication.
  2. By the time Atlantic got it, the mission was already over.
  3. The information was deliberately leaked by a mole to the Atlantic to embarrass the Trump Administration--- either get Hegseth to resign/fired, or some other reason.
The problem isn't that Signal was used, it has been used for years by many presidents--- it is the fact that anti-Trump agents within the government will stop at nothing, risk everything, trying to obstruct him.

The discussion included a detailed timeline and operational information. According to Goldberg it included “precise information about weapons packages, targets, and timing."

The Atlantic editor had been added to the group by Waltz, not a mole, several days before the discussion, the discussion occurred several hours before the mission.

Signal is rarely used by government officials and strongly discouraged. It is never used for this level of discussion.

Goldberg is a liar.

The information gave away nothing of actual operations and plans.

This is a big nothing burger with the exception of the fact that it was a career leftist who installed the AP for Hegseth and put the phone numbers into the ap. It turns out his wife is also a huge extreme leftwinger in the DOJ.

Yes, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz mistakenly added Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, to a Signal chat group intended for discussing sensitive military operations against the Houthis in Yemen. Waltz later admitted to the error, explaining that it was a mix-up with his phone contacts.

This incident, now referred to as "Signalgate," has raised significant concerns about information security practices among top U.S. officials

Someone has lied to you. Like I said, the communicaé held no information as to the precise target or methods that could have been actionable by the enemy to stop the action had they gotten it.

I was not there, all I know is that however Atlantic was added, it was to try to trip up Trump.

I can't say. I'm not privy to details at the top of the federal government like you are. All I can tell you is that Signal is encrypted. Whatever is said, you cannot just read it without have the passkey.

But the one thing that WAS revealed by the leak was the smoothness and thoroughness with with the Trump operation was running. The operation went over perfectly. Whoever leaked the message and how, this merely revealed a vulnerability which I'm sure the Trump people will now fix to assure it cannot happen again.

Goldberg is a liar.
That is a predictable MAGA response, the other guy is always a liar.

Congress doesn’t think he’s a liar, even the Republicans. He saved the chat.

Sure, you just keep telling yourself that.🙄

How convenient. Those claims don’t supported by the evidence. First claim - Goldberg is a liar! Since that doesn’t work we’ll toss in the old “it was a lefty plot” to avoid responsibility.

I don't have to keep telling Myself anything. The proof is in the data.

This is nothing but a bitch-fest by the left because they can't hang anything on this administration.

Truthfully, the right would be best served to just point at this kind of information and snicker at their little dicks and then go on with life; ignoring the entire thing.

Which is what I am going to do starting right now.

You can’t fix a vulnerability that is caused by the incompetence (and dare I say it, arrogance) of the people you surround yourself with.

This was anything but smooth and thorough. We’ve now angered a strategic intelligence partner in the Middle East, and not for the first time, shown we can’t be trusted to appropriately handle sensitive matters. According to tbe article, this level of discussion never occurs on an app like that but only under very secure conditions.

These are amateurs, who are blaming everyone else and outright lying in the face of evidence, rather than taking responsibility. Amateurs too arrogant to admit this was a big problem!
