That was part of the mealy mouthed answer JD gave to the question of whether Big Fat Don lost in 2020.

After weeks of avoiding the question and offering dodgy non-answers in response, Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance (OH) on Wednesday finally publicly admitted he does not believe Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election.

During a Williamsport, Pennsylvania rally, the Ohio senator was asked: “What message do you think it sends to independent voters when you do not directly answer the question, ‘Did Donald Trump lose the 2020 election?’”

“On the election of 2020, I’ve answered this question directly a million times: No,” Vance answered. “I think there are serious problems in 2020. So, did Donald Trump lose the election? Not by the words that I would use, okay?”

It's as though he understands, some tiny place in his head where rational thought lives, how crazy it is to say trump won in 2020. So instead we get these nutty, semantic equivocations.

Are both men on the POT ticket are entertaining a deluded fantasy? Or is it they've been telling the Big Lie so long there's no turning back?

At least he realizes it makes him sound stupid and is trying to weezle his way out of it. That kind of self-awareness is rare in MAGAland.

Yet he knows he has to at least maintain the illusion of The Crazy in order to fit in with The Following.

Yep. He's walking a tightrope. But at least he's not diving into the abyss. Maybe there's hope.

He went there long ago when he proposed that the state track pregnant women.

He's a puss. He knows it is a lie so he constructs some BS way to weasel out of it later. Vance's career is dead if Trump loses. Worst decision he ever made was to sell his soul.

I hear you. I guess I'm just trying to be hopeful. It looks like Trump is going to win, and that means Vance will likely be President.

If Trump does win, you can once again thank the DNC.

Yeah. Something weird is going on. I think they threw in the towel before the Biden debate, and the rest has been "positioning".

Maybe Vance is part of a double secret conspiracy, a trojan horse for never-Trump Republicans.
I don't know if the never-Trump Republicans fully realize how many Americans are just fine with this.

Trump will get 46% to 48% of the popular vote. And I think he'll get the most electoral votes.

I don't claim to understand it, but there it is.

How is there hope considering he agreed to be the VP candidate with an inveterately lying, sociopathic, narcissist?

Maybe he saw the writing on the wall and wants to mitigate the damage. Maybe he's a plant by never-Trumper Republicans. Longshots, I know. But he does seem relatively sane, when not trying to avoid contradicting Trump.

That could be good, or very bad. It could be, he's a sane conservative who isn't just a troll. It could also mean he becomes a competent fascist (instead of a weak-ego populist).

A vast majority of the Congressional GQP have sold their soul because they're so fucking craven.

The biggest villains in this whole goddamn travesty.
They have no doubt played an enormous role in this ongoing disaster. But IMO the ultimate fault lies with The Following. Because the POT congressional caucus is only on the trump train because they know they'll be voted out of office if they get on the wrong side of Dear Leader. Privately, as we learned recently in hearing about McTurtle's private remarks, I would argue most congressional POTer's know trump is a piece of shit.

Clearly, there were some members of his first admin who felt the need to stick around in order to mitigate the damage trump was trying to cause. But they were laid to waste. Ferreted out as being being disloyal. Not to the country, to the orange god.

Yeah, there are VERY few True Believers in Congress. MTG most likely. Boebert, probably.

But the rest know what this guy is. They've even said so, in public, before they felt the heat. Hell, Vance himself did. "America's Hitler". Holy shit. Shameless.
