I guess not. These things are only news because..

A. It happened in New York City

B. It gives the Trump-haters an opportunity to blame the Trump administration

C. It gives everyone else the opportunity to blame the pilot for being a DEI hire.

At least five people are dead following a helicopter crash in the Hudson River on Thursday afternoon, multiple law enforcement officials say

  • A helicopter broke apart in midair and crashed upside-down into the Hudson River between Manhattan and the New Jersey waterfront Thursday
  • A report of the downed aircraft near the West Side Highway and Spring Street came in shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday.
  • A sixth body was pulled from the water shortly before 5 p.m. today, a senior rescue official said.

Anyway, nobody gets out of here alive.

As usual, eyewitness accounts are all over the place.

We must await the official investigation to sort this out.

Six people were killed after a helicopter believed to be carrying a family of tourists from Spain crashed into the Hudson River on Thursday afternoon.

The crash was reported just before 3:30 p.m. closer to the Jersey City side of the Hudson.

In addition to the family of five -- two adults and three children -- a pilot was also on board, for a total of six people.

Video shared with Eyewitness News appeared to show pieces of the helicopter break apart and crash into the water.

When crews arrived the helicopter was upside down in the water.

"I watched it fall out of the sky! I heard five or six loud noises that sounded almost like gunshots in the sky and saw pieces fall off, then watched it fall into the river," said Dani Horbiak, who saw the crash from her apartment window.

The FAA believes the helicopter is a Bell 206 and appears to have taken off from the Downtown Manhattan Heliport at 2:59 p.m. It went off radar at 3:25 p.m.

Maybe someone on the ground mistook it for a Tesla and a democrat shot it out of the sky?

Flying over the river these days is very dangerous.

Very unusual. I'm guessing that the rotor came off and hit the tail section on the way down.

How could the FAA not know? Don't people keep records of who is flying what where? :th_BlackHelicopter:

Two previous NTSB reports had cited tail rotor drive shaft problems and requiring testing and if necessary, replacement. One of the reports included the 206-4 which was the model in this crash.
